Recently after school, my daughter told me a kid tried to spit in her face. More specifically, he grabbed her face and tried to spit in it. I should inform you they are around 4 years old, give or take. So, I do understand that some kids do these things. No, I do not think its ok. I'm just saying I understand that things happen.
But, I asked her what she did, and I let her know she should have gotten his hands off of her and told him not to touch her. Again she said, "No, we are supposed to say please stop." I told her that is a good thing to do, but
its ok to get his hands off of her and tell him to stop.
I want her to be kind, of course, but not so kind as to
not stand up for herself. Now, I don't worry about my daughter too much because she is pretty good about handling herself. But, as much as our kids are being taught not to bully each other and (apparently) not to even talk to each other in a stern manner,
they need to know to stand up for themselves! I did tell my daughter if someone is touching her, and she doesn't want them to,
its OK to get their hands OFF of her and tell them its her face/hand/belly/whatever it is and they CAN'T touch it.
Of course there was more to our conversation, but that was the long story relatively short, lol!
